The spectacular coastline of Languedoc-Roussillon in the South of France stretches for 150 miles from the Vermillion Coast to the Camargue along the Mediterranean Sea. Mende, Alès, Nimes, Montpellier, Beziers, Narbonne, Carcassonne and Perpignan are the major towns. The Roussillon plain has a mediterranean climate. Temperatures rise to 30/35° in summer, and in winter they seldom fall below -3/-4°. The Tramontane or Tram' is the prevailing wind. Just like the mistral in the Provence, it blows from the North-Northeast and can be attended by violent squalls. The Tramontane clears the sky, causes the drought and makes the region's coast a surfers' paradise. http://www.tourisme-languedoc-roussillon.com/ |
